Stephen Beall has completed his doctoral study as of December 2014 at the University of North Texas in viola performance. He holds degrees in violin from the Eastman School of Music, West Virginia University, and an Artist’s Certificate from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Beall first began study with Mary Wilson in Morgantown, and his later teachers include Catherine Tait, John Fadial, William Terwilliger, Ryan Kho, and Susan Dubois. Dr. Beall once served as Principal Second Violin of the South Carolina Philharmonic and currently is Principal Violist of the San Angelo Symphony and sometime Concertmaster of the Lyric Stage Orchestra. Nominated for the South Carolina ASTA Outstanding Studio Teacher of the Year Award in 2006, Dr. Beall taught at the Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Festival from 2000-2004. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Allen of San Angelo.
