After 53 years of musical competitions drawing students from around the world, the San Angelo Symphony will suspend the Sorantin Competition for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. During the year, our organization will be looking for ways to improve our programming, ensure that our educational offerings are at the highest caliber and that the Sorantin International Young Artist Competition is consistently produced in the best manner.
Our goal is to more thoughtfully hear the needs and thoughts of those who love the Sorantin Competition. If you have any suggestions regarding this event such as live preliminaries versus DVD submissions, the possible change of the date from late November to early November or ideas to generate excitement for audience participation, please let us know and email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org. A Symphony staff person will respond accordingly.
The San Angelo Symphony appreciates the support of our patrons, our community, the Concho Valley and a wide array of foundations throughout the state. We are proud of our Education Department and continue to meet our education mission statement: The Education Department seeks to encourage the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of music while promoting active participation through education of all adults, children and students in West Texas.
